On This Day – 13th January
13th January 1994 marked a landmark in Thierry Henry’s career. It was on this day that he signed his first professional contract.
Henry signed professional terms with Monaco and his manager at the time was a certain Arsene Wenger. The pair would meet up at Arsenal three and a half years later.
Henry would go on and join Juventus but never fully settled in Italy. In the summer of 1999, Arsenal had just sold want-away striker Nicolas Anelka to Real Madrid for £23.5 million. Wenger was in need of a striker to replace him. This was the perfect opportunity for him to bring in Henry who jumped at the chance to link up with Wenger again.
The rest, they say, is history…..
