Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Derby County

Derby legend Dave Mackay in the Derby home strip in 1970/71

Good – home shirt 1968-71
As a neutral, I have to say that I really like this shirt! I love the matching collar and cuffs made up of black and white hoops.
The shirt was plain white with the club crest of a ram on it. A truly wonderful shirt!

Bad – away shirt 2008/09
Someone at Derby must have agreed with manufacturers Adidas that going for a fluorescent lime green away shirt would be a good idea. A lime green shirt with white lettering on, making the writing unreadable!
I personally think that if this sort of bright colour is to be worn then it should only be worn by goalkeepers. Players could easily get mixed up with police officers and stewards in the crowd too!

Ugly – away shirt 1993/94
Worn for two seasons, this monstrosity of a shirt looks like a beach towel! One small alteration between the shirt above (that was worn in 1993/94) and the one worn the following season is that sportswear brand Bukta appears on the first shirt and ‘Rams Pro Wear’ appears on the shirt in the 1994/95 version.
