Tony Adams drops match-winner Steve Morrow in 1993 League Cup Final
Steve Morrow celebrates his match-winning goal in the 68th minute
Steve Morrow will sadly be remembered not for his winning goal in the 1993 Coca Cola Cup Final but for being dropped by his captain Tony Adams straight after the game.
He scored the winner in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, which was a rarity in itself as he only scored a few goals for Arsenal in his career.
Things are about to get painful for Steve Morrow
Morrow’s 68th minute winner won the game for Arsenal and as the players celebrated, Tony Adams lifted Steve Morrow up and promptly dropped him, breaking Morrow’s arm in the process.
Arsenal’s midfielder collapsed in a heap and had to be given oxygen to help with the pain. He was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and taken to hospital whilst his team mates went to collect their medals and lift the cup in the Royal Box.

Arsenal reached another Final against Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the season and Steve got to go up to the Royal Box before the Final. A nice end to a horrible situation.
