On This Day – 2nd March
Southampton hosted Queens Park Rangers at St Marys in the Premier League on this day in 2013. There was nothing particularly special about the game itself, but more to do with both of the team’s managers.
The notable thing about the day was that it was both manager’s birthday! Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino turned 40 and QPR boss Harry Redknapp was celebrating his 66th birthday.
The game itself ended 2-1 to the visitors, with Loic Remy and Jay Bothroyd grabbing the goals. Gaston Ramirez scored Southampton’s only goal of the game.
