On This Day – 13th March
On this day back in 1873, eight Scottish football clubs formed the Scottish Football Association.
Queen’s Park were the first football club to be founded in Scotland. They competed in the English FA Cup several times and even reached the final in 1884 and 85.
The club placed an advert in a newspaper and were joined in the Scottish Football Association by Clydesdale, Dumbreck, Eastern, Granville, Kilmarnock, Third Lanark and Vale of Leven.
