On This Day – 3rd March
It was on this day in 1918 that the first match between AC and Inter Milan took place. AC were the victors in this inaugural game between the two clubs, beating Inter 8-1!
In Italy it is known as the Derby della Madonnina or Derby di Milano. Internazionale have been the more successful in the matches between the two over the years. They have won 82 of the 225 official matches, compared to AC’s 76.
I visited the San Siro (the stadium that both clubs share) back in 2007 and interestingly, there are three dressing rooms. One belongs to Inter, the other AC and there is also the away dressing room too.
