Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Wolverhampton Wanderers

Good – home shirt 1951 – 56
It was when researching the Wolves home shirts that I stumbled upon a bit of fascinating trivia. It made me want to put this shirt in to the ‘Good’ section straight away!
This shirt was worn in the second half of Wolves’s illustrious friendlies under the new floodlights at Molineux and was yellow, not their usual gold and black. The reason was that it was easier to see. I’m just really disappointed that I can’t find a colour photo of the shirt.
It was such a simple idea and a lovely quirky bit of football trivia!

Bad – home shirt 1996 – 98
The only reason that I have chosen this shirt for the ‘Bad’ category is because of the large amount of black on the shirt. The large V-neck collar looked bad as well. Wolves have luckily never returned to a similar design.

Ugly – home shirt 1992/93
This home shirt was really ugly! Apparently the marks all over the shirt were supposed to be tyre marks because the club’s sponsors were Goodyear Tyres. It looked more like mud stains!
