Romario is 59 today. The former Brazilian striker scored a hugely impressive 55 goals for Brazil in 70 games for his national team and played at the 1990 and 1994 World Cups.
In all, Romario scored 690 goals in 893 games during his club career, playing in five different countries as well as his homeland.
Former Chelsea and Celtic midfielder David Hay is 77 today. He won 27 caps for Scotland and won the Scottish Premier League five times in a row.
Hay later managed Celtic, where he won the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup. He also won league titles at Motherwell, Livingston and the Norwegian Premier League with Lillestrom in 1989.
Peter Lovenkrands is 45 today. The Danish international won 22 caps for his home country between 2002 and 2010 and featured at the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004.
Lovenkrands is perhaps best known for his time at Glasgow Rangers where he won six major trophies, including the Domestic Treble twice. He later played in England for Newcastle United and Birmingham City.
Former player and manager Ronnie Moore celebrates his 72nd birthday today. The Liverpudlian spent most of his career in the lower leagues of English football, starting and ending his career at Tranmere Rovers.
Moore moved into management after his playing days came to an end. This included two spells at former club Tranmere Rovers. He won two promotions with Rotherham United in three seasons, guiding them from the Third Division to the First Division (the second flight of English football).
