Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim celebrates his 40th birthday today. The Portuguese played fourteen times for his national team between 2010 and 2014 and spent the majority of his career at Benfica.
Amorim started his managerial career in his homeland for Casa Pia before taking charge of Braga and then Sporting Lisbon, before joining United in November last year.
As a player, Amorim won the Portuguese league title three times with Benfica and twice as manager of Sporting Lisbon.
Mike Newell is 60 today. The former Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers also scored the decisive penalty in the 1991/92 Play-Off Final against Leicester City to take Rovers into the top flight.
The striker played for thirteen different clubs during his playing career including Luton Town, a club he later managed. When in charge at Kenilworth Road, Newell guided the club to the League One title in 2004/05. He had previously managed Hartlepool United and later Grimsby Town.
Former Welsh international striker Nathan Blake celebrates his 52nd birthday today. During his career, Blake played for Cardiff City, Sheffield United, Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, Wolves, Leicester City, Leeds United and Newport County. He won 30 international caps and scored four goals for the Welsh national team.
Robbie Earle turns 60 today. The former striker played for Port Vale and Wimbledon during his career and made over 700 career appearances between 1982 and 2000.
Earle made eight appearances for Jamaica, including all three of his country’s games at the 1998 World Cup in France. He also holds the honour of scoring Jamaica’s first World Cup goal when he netted against Croatia.
