20th January – Footballing Birthdays

Owen Hargreaves celebrates his 44th birthday today. The former England international played for Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Manchester City over the course of his thirteen-year career. He won the Champions League with Bayern and Manchester United as well as ten other major honours.
Hargreaves won 42 England caps and played at Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Former player and manager Colin Calderwood turns 60 today. He played 36 times for Scotland, scoring once in a World Cup qualifier against San Marino.
Calderwood was part of the Swindon Town team that won the 1993 First Division Play-Off Final at Wembley, before moving to Tottenham Hotspur that summer. He spent the next six years at White Hart Lane before moving to Aston Villa in 1999.
The former defender then briefly spent time at Nottingham Forest, a club that he managed for two years. He also spent time in charge of Northampton Town, Hibernian and Cambridge United.

Cardiff City defender Calum Chambers is 30 today. Chambers started his career at Southampton before a big-money move to Arsenal in 2014. It was in that year that he made his three – and so far only – appearances for England.
After eight years in North London (which included time on loan at Middlesbrough and Fulham), Chambers joined Aston Villa in 2022. He signed for Cardiff City last summer and has made fourteen first-team appearances this season.

Tom Cairney is 34 today. The Fulham midfielder has been at the club since moving from Blackburn Rovers in 2015 and has two Scotland caps to his name.
Before joining Blackburn, Cairney played for Hull City.

Former Chelsea, Reading and Fulham winger Lucas Piazon is 31 today. The Brazilian joined Chelsea in 2011 at the age of 17 and made three appearances for the London club.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Piazon went out on loan seven times, playing in five different countries. He then joined Portuguese club Braga in January 2021 and now plays for AVS, another Portuguese oufit.
