WEEK 6 PREMIER LEAGUE REFEREE REVIEW

FRIDAY 23RD OCTOBER

ASTON VILLA 0-3 LEEDS UNITED
Referee: Paul Tierney
Assistants: Dan Cook, Sian Massey-Ellis
Fourth official: Mike Dean
VAR: Stuart Attwell
Assistant VAR: Gary Beswick
It is disappointing that Grealish of Aston Villa, who is such a talented player, goes to ground so easily. Leeds opened the scoring through Bamford after a dynamic attacking move. He completed his hat-trick with a sweet left foot curling shot.

SATURDAY 24TH OCTOBER

WEST HAM UNITED 1-1 MANCHESTER CITY
Referee: Anthony Taylor
Assistants: Gary Beswick, Adam Nunn
Fourth official: David Coote
VAR: Peter Bankes
Assistant VAR: Neil Davies
West Ham opened the scoring with an overhead kick by Michail Antonio in the 18th minute. Foden of Manchester City scored an equaliser in the 51st minute.
Fabianski played really well in goal for West Ham.

FULHAM 1-2 CRYSTAL PALACE
Referee: Graham Scott
Assistants: Derek Eaton, Timothy Wood
Fourth official: Dean Whitestone
VAR: Jarred Gillett
Assistant VAR: Peter Kirkup
Palace opened the scoring in the opening 10 minutes before Mitrovic of Fulham hit the post.
Zaha then missed an opportunity to score and Fulham then hit the post again.
before the half time whistle.
Zaha made up for his earlier miss by scoring from a cross from Batshuayi before crashing into the goalpost.

Graham Scott awarded in a later incident that resulted in a free kick and is advised by VAR to review the monitor after issuing a yellow card. After reviewing the screen, he correctly dismisses Kamara of Fulham for Serious Foul Play.
Fulham scored their first home goal of the season

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 CHELSEA
Referee: Martin Atkinson
Assistants: Lee Betts, Constantine Hatzidakis
Fourth official: Jonathan Moss
VAR: Stuart Attwell
Assistant VAR: Simon Long
The major talking-point in this game was to express some amazement that Harry Maguire was not penalised, and Chelsea awarded a penalty kick. Maguire had Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta in a stranglehold has the ball came into the penalty area.
HOW CAN VAR STUART ATTWELL AND REFEREE MAKE SUCH A MAJOR ERROR? IT WAS FRANKLY A SIMPLE DECISION THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DETECTED BY EXPERIENCED ATKINSON. CHELSEA WERE DENIED ALL THE POINTS BY THIS CLEAR AND OBVIOUS ERROR.
This was a very poor decision by the Referee and VAR not to review the monitor.

LIVERPOOL 2-1 SHEFFIELD UNITED
Referee: Mike Dean
Assistants: Darren Cann, Mark Scholes
Fourth official: Andy Madley
VAR: Andre Marriner
Assistant VAR: Scott Ledger
A tackle on the line and original free kick decision reviewed by VAR AND UPGRADED TO PENALTY KICK– This was the correct decision.
I would have liked Referee Dean to review the incident on the monitor.
It was good to see a ball striking a defender not get penalised. I think that it would have been earlier in the season.
When Liverpool scored, the main question was whether the Liverpool player who scored gaining an advantage by been in offside position. The VAR correct to rule goal out for offside.
52-year-old Mike Dean and his team can be satisfied with their performance.
