O.J Pipkin got in touch with me recently to ask if he would be able to promote his new docu-series about his cousin Alexander Knox.
Alexander is a young footballer in America who made it his dream to play professionally in Europe. O.J has produced a five-part series about Alexander and I will publish a new episode every Saturday for the next five weeks. The first episode can be found at the bottom of this article.
Hello O.J, how long have you been a film maker?
I have been doing video production since 2010, I mostly filmed music based content (music videos, concerts, promo videos for music artist, etc). I recently got more into documentary filmmaking and just released my first docu-series film “The Uncharted Route”
What made you want to work in film?
What made me want to work in film was the storytelling aspect. I love using video and photo to tell visual stories that can inspire people.
Do you follow football at all?
I do follow football a bit. I always loved playing the FIFA World Cup video games, and I watch football matches when I can. I also film a lot of football tournaments in the Southern California area as well.
What is the level of interest in football over in The States?
I would say the level of interest in football in the U.S. isn’t that high. American football, basketball, baseball are much more popular, even hockey is probably more popular then football (soccer) in the U.S. but there are people that definitely enjoy football.
Please can you tell me a little bit about your video?
At an early age Alexander Knox found his passion. Soccer. He set a goal to make it as a professional soccer player in Europe. This is his story. From his perspective. A dive into his mind and thought process of what it takes to become successful. The ups and downs of the journey when one chooses to chase a dream. Everyone’s route is different, some people follow the footsteps and paths that others have taken. Some people take The Uncharted Route. Directed by O.J. Pipkin – @ojtheshooter
