Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Wigan Athletic

Good – away shirt 2012/13
This was the only shirt that I could put in the ‘Good’ category. Wigan wore it when they won the FA Cup as huge underdogs against the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
It will be the shirt that will go down in their history and so has to feature here!

This season’s home shirt

Bad – home shirt 2019/20
Having trawled through photos of every home shirt that Wigan have worn in their history, I believe that this shirt needs more white on it.
The Latics have always had white as one of the dominant colours of their home shirts. With only thin white pinstripes on this shirt, it doesn’t look very “Wigan”.

Ugly – away kit 1993/94
Oxford United had the same design by Matchwinner in the same season and it’s hard to see how two teams would want to have this as their away shirt.
The white ‘Heinz’ logo is barely visible with the white blotches of the shirt in the background. It’s an ugly shirt and one that I’m sure Wigan will never return to.
