On This Day – 19th February
It was on this day back in 2003 when Manchester United superstar David Beckham got on the wrong end of Alex Ferguson’s bad temper.
Arsenal had just dumped Manchester United out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford with a 2-0 win and Ferguson was in a foul mood.
As he ranted at his United players in the home dressing room, he kicked out at a boot that was left on the dressing room floor. The boot flew across the dressing room, hitting Beckham in the face.
The boot had given Beckham had a small cut above his eye and he had to have a couple of stitches to fix the wound.
At the end of the season, Beckham moved to Real Madrid with many citing the run-in with Fergie as the catalyst for the move.
