Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Walsall

Good – home shirt 1882/83
I saw this shirt on the excellent website www.historicalkits.co.uk when looking into Walsall’s shirts from down the years.
I love this shirt and wish that Walsall kept it as their home shirt. The Victorian era ceetainly did throw up some great kit designs!

Bad – away shirt 1991/92
This shirt is awful! It’s definitely a strange design and the dashes really don’t look good at all. I would have selected it in the ‘Ugly’ section but a repeat offender gets that dubious honour!

Ugly – home shirt 2016/17
Walsall had a shirt with exactly the same design in the 1997/98 season and should have learnt the first time!
Black and red chequers looked awful and really don’t look good on a football shirt.
