Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Southend United
Good – home shirt 1910/11
I only found out about this shirt when browsing the excellent www.historicalkits.co.uk site. Part of me really wishes that Southend had stayed with this design and colour scheme from 110 years ago because there aren’t many shirts like it out there.
Bad – away shirt 1996 – 98
The bad and ugly shirts for Southend come from the same seasons and the away shirt is only narrowly better than the home kit.
The away shirt from the 1996/97 and 1997/98 season has the same pattern and design as the home shirt but a different colour scheme.
Ugly – home shirt 1996 – 98
In my opinion, the home shirt would have looked better if it was plain blue and didn’t have the yellow panel.
The large amount yellow ruins the shirt and for that reason, it features in the ‘ugly’ section.
