Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Manchester United
Good – away shirt 1995/96
I’m only putting this shirt in the ‘Good’ section as the story of United changing out of this shirt at half-time in their defeat to Southampton is hilarious!
Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United manager at the time claimed that the United players couldn’t pick each other out as the shirt blended in with the crowd. Luckily for them, their kit man had brought along their other kit but they still ended up losing 3-1!
Bad – third shirt 2003-05
I have bad memories of this as an Arsenal fan as United wore it when they beat us in the 2004 FA Cup Semi Final!
It looks like something that would be worn on a golf course and not on a football pitch!
Ugly – home shirt 2012/13
It wouldn’t matter what colour that this shirt was, the awful pattern of small chequers is a disaster! As per usual, Manchester United wore this shirt for only the one season before going back to a plain design.
I don’t think the person who designed it is to blame, the person who agreed to the shirt being used is. What a shocker!
