Eddie McGoldrick joins the list of Patrons!
It’s with great pleasure that I can announce that Eddie McGoldrick agreed this afternoon to become the third Patron for Far Post Header.
He has agreed to also take part in an interview for the blog when his schedule frees up enough time. This will be published in due course.
Eddie began his career at non-league Kettering Town before joining Nuneaton Town.
Northampton Town came in and gave him his first taste of playing in the Football League and he won the Fourth Division title with them in 1987.
Crystal Palace came in for Eddie in 1988 and he enjoyed five seasons at Selhurst Park before joining George Graham’s Arsenal in the summer of 1993.
Arsenal won the European Cup Winners Cup in Eddie’s first season in the club. He came on as a substitute in the Final against Parma, replacing Paul Merson with a few minutes remaining.
With first-team opportunities at Highbury becoming quite limited, Eddie moved on to Manchester City and had a spell on loan at Stockport County before ending his career back in non-league with Corby Town in 2000.
Over the course of Eddie’s playing career, he also appeared for the Republic of Ireland team fifteen times.
I am very grateful to Eddie for agreeing to become our third Patron.
Eddie joins Gordon Hill and Paul Jones as a Patron for the blog. Our regular writer and former FIFA referee Keith Hackett is the blog’s Honorary Patron.
