On This Day – 27th January
Robbie Fowler rejoined Liverpool on this day back in 2006.
He had left Anfield in 2001 to join Leeds United in an £11 million deal after scoring 162 for Liverpool.
After a little over a year at Elland Road, he moved on to Manchester City before returning to Anfield when Rafa Benitez decided to bring him back to his boyhood club.
Liverpool fans nicknamed Fowler ‘God’ because of his ruthlessness in front of goal. His second spell at the club was to last a year and a half and he found the back of the net 12 times in 39 appearances. It is worth noting that 19 of these games were as substitute.
After his second spell at Liverpool, Fowler joined Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers before moving to Australia.
He played for North Queensland Fury and Perth Glory in the A-League before ending his career at Thai club Muanthong United.
Fowler is currently the Head Coach of Brisbane Roar and before that he was the Head Coach of Muanthong United, the last club that he appeared for in his playing career.
