Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Burton Albion

Home shirt for this season

Good – 2019/20 home shirt
Manufactured by TAG, this season’s shirt is (in my opinion) the best shirt that Burton have had for years.
A simple design of a yellow body with black sleeves and collar with the sponsor Prestec horizontally across the middle of the shirt.

The shirt worn at Wembley in 1987

Bad – 1987 home shirt
A yellow shirt with black pinstripes, collars and on the end of the sleeves but for me, it just doesn’t look good.
The shirt will be remembered fondly by Burton fans as the one worn at Wembley for the 1987 FA Trophy Final (as stitched around the club badge on the shirt) but for me, it’s definitely not memorable!

Ugly – 2014 – 16 away shirt
I can’t understand why grey should ever be used on a football shirt. It just looks awful and with a combination of grey and white vertical stripes and a black wavy line across the chest, this away shirt goes on the ugly list!
Burton wore this shirt in the 2014/15 season and finished champions of League Two at the end of the season.
It was the second shirt for the following season, their first in the third tier of English football. Once again, Burton were promoted automatically, this time they were runners-up in the league.
