Good, Bad and Ugly kits from the past – Blackburn Rovers

Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton celebrate winning the league title at Anfield, May 1995

Good – Home shirt 1994/95
I don’t think that there are many choices for Blackburn as they started wearing blue and white half shirts since 1878, three years after they were formed.
In that time there have been many alterations to the shirt, be it to the collar, a change in the badge or a new sponsor being printed.
I have therefore gone for the 1994/95 home shirt as it was the shirt they wore when they won the Premier League for the first (and so far only) time in their history!

Bad – Third shirt 2012/13
This light grey and white vertical-striped shirt with narrow pinstripes is just awful. Luckily for the Rovers fans, it was only used for one season before disappearing into the recesses of time!

The Ugly award goes to the 199/00 third shirt

Ugly – Third shirt 1999/00
The 1999/00 season was tough for Blackburn Rovers fans as it was their first time out of the top flight in seven years.
To compound the misery, this shirt was also unveiled by sports company Uhlsport as their third shirt. Made up predominantly of a dark blue colour with a red collar and a sash running diagonally down from the left shoulder on the front of the shirt, it could have looked like a sash from a Miss World competition!
On closer inspection, there were numerous watermarks of the club crest over the red sash to add to the awful design. Yet another one season that was never seen again after the season was over.
