Football books to buy in 2020
If you’ve been given any vouchers over Christmas for a bookshop, then below is a list of books written by several of the people that I have interviewed for the blog.
In the three short months that I have been writing this blog, I have had the opportunity to interview some fascinating former players as well as other people involved in The Beautiful Game. Here are a few books that have been written by some of those people:
You are the Ref – Paul Trevillion & Keith Hackett
This fantastic book is written by our weekly contributor and former FIFA referee Keith Hackett with some excellent illustrations from Paul Trevillion.
It is available on both Kindle and paperback.
Regrets of a Football Maverick – The Terry Curran
Autobiography – Terry Curran with John Brindley
Terry was one of the first former players that I interviewed, with his interview being published on here in early November.
‘Regrets of a Football Maverick’ is the title of Terry’s autobiography and he wrote it with John Brindley.
Cherry Picking – Life Between The Sticks – Steve Cherry with
Jonathan Nicholas
Cherry Picking – Life Between The Sticks is the autobiography of former goalkeeper Steve Cherry.
Cherry was best known for his time at Notts County and he wrote this autobiography with Jonathan Nicholas.
Tales From The City – Volumes One, Two & Three
– Edited by Mick Dennis
Mick was the first journalist that I interviewed for my blog and above is a link to a three part book set that he edited called Tales From The City.
The books are a collection of stories written about Norwich City by people who love the club. Each book can be bought separately or all together as seen in the link above.
Dixie – The Autobiography of Dixie McNeil: The Story Of A
Wrexham Legend
Goalscoring supremo was a fantastic interviewee and from what I’ve read and seen of him, he was a great goalscorer too!
Anyone who was top goalscorer in the whole of the Football League for three consecutive seasons certainly knows where the back of the net is and must surely have a few stories to tell!
